Legislative Aide for State Representative Bruce Ayers

State Representative Bruce Ayers is looking for full-time Legislative Aide to run busy office. Hours are 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday in the Massachusetts State House in Boston. The aide may be asked to attend occasional meetings/functions in the evening on behalf of the representative.

Responsibilities include: Managing day-to-day office functions, including keeping detailed appointment schedules and coordinating all office contacts. Managing all correspondence with constituents in a timely manner. Conducting legislative and general research for the Representative Drafting, filing, and tracking legislation and budget items. Meeting with constituents, legislators and staff, and advocates Recruiting and supervising interns Drafting constituent letters, press releases, and letters to other government officials
Requirements: Must have a bachelors degree
Excellent communication skills (phone, verbal, writing – spelling & grammar skills are a must)
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office), including database management
Organizational skills including ability to multi-task and work under pressure with tight deadlines
Proactive attitude, attention to detail and ability to complete multiple assignments and duties in a timely manner
Keen attention to detail
Courteous and personable both on the phone and in person
Willingness to attend functions at night (not essential but helpful) and stay late if necessary
