And they said you wasn't coming
Said we were built for nothing but enslavement
Biblically we were related to Ham
Cursed for being melinated
We could never grasp the concept of education
We'd never master the basics of critical thinking
Our cranial cavity lacked the space
This was debated by the greatest minds
The same minds that created the concept of Race
We were too inferior to be intergrated
Three fifths of a homo-sapien so we were segragated
Delegated the duties that hatred produced
We have been waiting for you
Pullman Car Porters named George stepped and fetched and held the train up for you
And they said you wasn't coming
But I always knew
Said we were dumb and getting dumber because we spoke ebonically to one another
Said we do nothing but breed and spread like weeds
Said we couldn't cut the "Mustard" if they gave us the "Seed"
But we had the "Faith"
Said "That's All We Need"
Besides, mustard don't cut it spreads
It taste good with meat and cheese
Food for thinking
Thinking you wasn't coming

But Tuskegee already trained the pilot that will fly your "Air Force One"
And a Massachusetts regiment was ready long ago for your "Glory" to come
And a Preacher and his Wife looked over the mountain top And already seen you coming
And some Panthers roared at the sight of you coming around that mountain
And the F.O.I. born a fearless, educated soldier who knew you were coming
And my Mama?
My Mama said I would be you but then I wouldn't be me and you would be coming
