This intensive 3 week program will pay Boston highschoolers a stipend for their commitment to writing and learning about writing. They will write fiction, poetry, and nonfiction, participate in workshops, and attend readings. They will also meet authors and literary agents.

Grub Street Offers First Paid Teen Writing FellowshipBoston, MA. -- June 1, 2008. –Grub Street’s is proud to announce its first-ever intensive summer writing program for high school students, the YAWP Teen Writing Fellowship. This unique program offers students the chance to explore creative writing and receive a stipend for their dedication to the literary arts. “We wanted to find a way to invest in kids who made a commitment to their writing,” says Chris Castellani, Grub Street’s Artistic Director.
Admittance to the program is by application only, and will favor students who demonstrate the greatest commitment to and passion for creative writing. For three weeks, twenty-four students will attend classes, workshops and readings and receive $432.00 for their time and commitment. They will also generate their own work and get an “insider’s view” of the writing and publishing world. Grub Street hopes to inspire each young writer and encourage a lifelong passion for the art of creative writing.
Who: All incoming 9th-12th graders in the Boston area.
When: August 4-22, Monday through Thursday, 10am- 3pm. Lunch included.
