Summer Arts Workshops

The Cloud Foundation seeks teens (ages 14-19) attending a Boston-area public school who are ready to try something new, and would like to explore the intersections between performance, visual art, and media.

Details

 All workshops are free, and a snack, lunch, or dinner (depending on time) is provided free of charge to all participants. Students selected for participation in the Cloud's Summer Workshops will receive a stipend.

Performance Art & Contemporary Dance - take one, or try them both!

Performance Art: Identity, Media, and Audience
    June 23 - July 11: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00am-3:30pm
    Ready to reinvent live performance? The summer Performance Art Workshop will give you a chance to explore your
    relationships to places, materials, rituals, and people. No previous performance, dance, or visual art
    experience is required, but you will get a chance to experiment with all three! Interested students should
    submit an application form as soon as possible - available at www.cloudfoundation.org/programs/index.html

Contemporary Dance: Movement and Performance
    June 24 – July 11: Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:00-4:00pm
    Work with professional dancers to create movement and dance from familiar gestures, to explore the relationship
    between dance and sound, and to experiment with performance in a variety of public and private venues. No
    previous dance experience is required for participation.

    July 21 - August 16: Monday - Friday, 10:30am - 3:00pm
    Auditions for Performers & Stage Crew: June 11th or 12th, 3 - 6pm at Cloud Place (647 Boylston St. Boston)

    The Cloud is working with Opera Boston to put on our most ambitious performance program yet - an original,
    40-minute opera with an all-teen cast. All participating students will receive a stipend. Auditions for
    performers, musicians, and stage crew will be held at Cloud Place on June 11th and 12th from 3:00-6:00pm.
    Students are asked to submit an application and teacher recommendation before auditioning.

Documentary Filmmaking with an International Twist
    StoryBorders: Multimedia Documentary Filmmaking
    August 5 – 28: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30-8:30pm
    Do you have a story to tell or an interest in exploring the city of Boston? Students will learn to operate
    digital video cameras, make sound recordings, and acquire digital editing and sound mixing skills. Students'
    work-in-progress will be shared via website with youth documentary makers around the world through the
    TransCultural Exchange Conference in spring 2009. Interested students should submit an application form as soon
