The Digital Education Foundation (DEF) is looking for Interns for Spring Semester 2008. Girls ages 9 to 17 will produce a final video/digital story project to be screened in community.

About Our Program:

The Digital Stories By Girls Project, provides girls
access to technology, hands on exposure to computer
software, video, sound, lighting and rigging
equipment. This program is geared for urban girls, it
incorporates their social norms, while teaching real
transferable skills.
Girls ages 9 to 17 from the surrounding neighborhoods
(Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, and Jamaica
Plain) will produce a final video/digital story
project to be screened in community. In the past,
participants have generally come from single parent
homes, and reported receiving below average grades in
school.
The curriculum includes digital video camera
operation, lighting, sound, digital photography, shot
composition, interviewing skills, video editing,
elements of story, title design and working in a
group. Specifically participants will finish the
program with a working understanding of Mac and PC
based software such as iMovie, iDVD, Microsoft Word,
iPhoto, PowerPoint and Garageband.
